Looking after your appearance

Most older women would prefer their skin to have fewer wrinkles but not be totally unlined. Lack of oestrogen does play a part in ageing skin by making it thinner, drier and collagen-depleted but to a lesser extent than too much exposure to sun, cigarettes and to alcohol.

Wrinkles are the result of skin damage and a lack of moisture. Eating a healthy diet rich in fruit and vegetables, giving up smoking, screening the face from the sun and regular application of a good moisturising cream are priorities.
